Helio G70 vs Snapdragon 439 Comparison: Which Processor is More Powerful?

Xiaomi recently launched their Redmi 8A Dual with Snapdragon 439 whereas a few days ago Realme launched Realme C3 with MediaTek Helio G70 which brings these two processor head to head against each other because both smartphones are priced at almost at the same price. So customers should know which processor is better at this price point, Helio G70 or Snapdragon 439. Although Redmi 8A Dual is priced 500 Rs lower than Realme C3 is it worth going for a phone with Snapdragon 439 in 2020 even for low budget buyers. So let’s get started with this comparison.

MediaTek Helio G70 vs Snapdragon 439 Comparison

CPU

If we talk about core count both processors are Octa-core. But if we go deeper and look at core frequencies we can clearly see Helio G70 is far superior chip compared to Snapdragon 439. Helio G70 comes with 2 Cortex A75 cores at 2 GHz and 6 Cortex A55 cores at 1.7 GHz whereas Snapdragon 439 has 2 Cortex A53 cores at 1.95 GHz and 6 Cortex A53 cores at 1.45 GHz. So CPU architecture wise and frequency wise Helio G70 is a clear winner and it outranks Snapdragon 439 by a huge margin.

GPU

For GPU Helio G70 uses Mali-G52 2EEMC2 and Snapdragon 439 uses Adreno 505. And if we look at benchmarking score for GPU in Antutu v8 Adreno 505 score 9374 and Mali-G52 scores 39226. So we can clearly see Mali-G52 is far better in terms of performance than Snapdragon 439.

Manufacturing Process

Both chips are made by using 12nm lithography. So here both SoCs are equal in terms of power-efficient.

Memory

In the memory department also Helio G70 is a clear winner because Helio G70 uses LPDDR4X RAM where Snapdragon 439 uses LPDDR3 RAM. Everybody knows LPDDR4X is more energy-efficient and deliver higher speed compared to LPDDR3.

For storage also Helio G70 supports UFS 2.1 standards where Snapdragon 439 supports eMMC 5.1 standards. And we all know UFS 2.1 is faster compared to eMMC 5.1 in reading speeds.

Display

In-display section also Helio G70 is ahead of Snapdragon 439. Helio G70 can support resolutions up to 2520 x 1080 pixels where Snapdragon 439 can support resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 pixels.

Camera

In the camera department, there is no surprise; here also Helio G70 is the winner. For MediaTek’s G70 single camera support up to 48MP and dual camera support up to 16MP where Qualcomm’s 439 single camera support up to 21MP and dual camera support up to 8MP.

Connectivity

Both chips have 4G LTE modems in them. But in terms of speed, there is a huge difference. Where Helio G70’s modem can provide Download link speed up to 300 Mbps and Upload link speed up to 150 Mbps, Snapdragon 439’s X16 modem is only able to deliver speed up to 150 Mbps for Download link and 75 Mbps for Upload link.

So we can see Helio G70 has double the speed of Snapdragon 439 in terms of 4G speeds.

Which Processor is More Powerful?

Snapdragon 439 was released in the year 2018 whereas Helio G70 is released this year so we are expecting Helio G70 will perform much better compared to Snapdragon 439 which G70 did. In every department, MediaTek’s G70 beats Qualcomm’s 439 except both chips are manufactured using 12nm manufacturing node.

In Antutu v8 Helio G70 scores 1,94,170 points where Snapdragon 439 scores only 80,855 points. So we can clearly say Helio G70 is a much better chip compared to Snapdragon 439.

So in our suggestion, if you are buying a Smartphone in the lower mid-range price segment and you are confused about both the processors go blindly for Helio G70.
