The Tesla Model Y 2022 attempted to profit off the Model 3's explosive popularity, but the all-electric bridge is more of a fizzle than a sizzle.

The Tesla Model 3 2022 masters its purpose with dancing handling and great range, while the 2022 Model Y feels sluggish.

Long Range model claims up to 330 miles per charge, which is better than the Ford Mustang Mach E and Volkswagen ID.4.

What's New for 2022?

For 2022, the entry-level Standard Range model will no longer be offered, making the Long Range the de facto basic model.

The Long Range's estimated range is 330 miles with 19-inch wheels. Choosing 20-inch wheels reduces range to 318 miles per charge.

Tesla Model Y customization is limited, with only five exterior colours (three of which cost extra). Third-row seats cost $3000 more.

Tesla Model Y price

From Rs 70 lakh (ex-showroom). Model Y variations: Long Range and Performance versions of the electric SUV are marketed internationally. Tesla Model Y seats seven.

EV Motor, Power, and Performance

The Standard Range cost-leader variant is no longer available in the 2022 Tesla Model Y lineup.

There is no harm done because the Model Y's Long Range and Performance variants offer better value than a Standard Range trim.

Despite its remarkable acceleration, the Model Y doesn't provide the same amount of driving enjoyment as the Model 3.

The Model 3's handling is dulled by the Y's higher centre of gravity and rougher ride over road irregularities.

Range, Charging, and Battery Life

The anticipated range for the Performance model reduces to 303 miles while the all-wheel-drive Long Range delivers 330 miles of range.

However, the latter has 20-inch wheels, a lowered suspension, a faster stated acceleration, and a special Track mode. It also has a greater top speed (155 mph).

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPGe

The EPA estimates that the Long Range model has a city MPGe of 131 and a highway MPGe of 117.

The Long Range model we tested on a 200-mile highway route got 94 MPGe and 220 miles of range, while the Performance model got 98 MPGe and 230 miles.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

The Model Y lacks the Model X's Falcon Wing doors; its inside is primarily from the Model 3 sedan.

The cabin has an airy feel thanks to the cabin's all-glass roof, which is highly tinted to keep passengers from being too hot in Sun Belt areas.

We doubt the Model Y's third row of seats, which are an expensive $3000 option, will be roomy enough for adults to ride in comfort.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The Model Y's big, compact infotainment display controls practically every function.

The Tesla Model Y features the same entertainment functions as the Model 3, including Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube apps and video games.
