Mahindra is creating big, beefy SUVs again. The new model we drove is Mahindra's flagship.

2022 Alturas G4

Last time the Rexton was debuted in India, it was a Ssangyong, but now it's a Mahindra SUV.

The powerful grille with a chrome surround, the fashionable headlights, and the sculpted hood are what set off the SUV's front end.

At the back of Alturas G4, the design is much more straightforward, with only a standard trunk and tail lamps that go all the way around.

The interior design left an impression on us. Black and brown are the dominant colors throughout the cabin, with quilted Nappa leather used for the brown.

It does have a quality appearance and feel, and the interior fit and finish may be the best of any Mahindra car.

Along with other communication possibilities, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system features smartphone integration.

The Alturas' top-spec four-wheel drive trim has 9 airbags, which is best-in-class. Standard ABS, EBD, and hill assist.

The Alturas has a 2.2-liter diesel engine that produces 420 newton metres between 1,600 and 2,600 rpm and 128 horsepower at 4,000 rpm.

The engine is ready for Euro-6, and as of right now, neither a petrol engine nor a manual transmission are even offered as options.

The engine's performance may not be particularly impressive, but it is better suited for labour that requires a great deal of force.

Naturally, nothing that would be a deal-breaker, and we truly enjoy the Alturas G4's 2.2-liter diesel engine's performance.

As a whole, the Alturas G4 is remarkable. It has a good amount of features, a spacious cabin, and a respectable engine. It also has a strong road presence.
