The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 truck is still strong and adaptable, but it's more nicer and loaded with more cutting-edge technologies.

The Denali level of the Sierra has made it the nicer rival to the Chevy Silverado 1500, but it hasn't been as luxury as rivals like the upper-crust Ram 1500s.

GMC's half-ton pickup is more attractive with luxurious materials, especially on the new Denali Ultimate. Super Cruise allows hands-free driving.

What's New for 2022?

GMC overhauls the 2022 Sierra 1500. While its front-end design improves, the interior changes are more noteworthy.

Every Sierra has a 13.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, with the exception of the base Pro model.

Real open-pore wood and leather-wrapped surfaces are included on the new Denali Ultimate, which further enhances the cabin's updated appearance.

The Max Trailering kit can tow 4000 pounds more than before because it is now compatible with the diesel engine (13,200 pounds total).

We prefer the GMC Sierra Elevation trim level since it is in the centre of the price spectrum and offers a good appearance package.

You can choose from several cab configurations and bed lengths. All-wheel drive is available at an extra cost should you require it.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

Rear- or all-wheel drive, four different engines, two different transmissions, and the 2022 GMC Sierra are all options.

The standard 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder makes 310 hp and 420 lb-ft. Eight-speed automatic transmission.

355-hp 5.3-liter and 420-hp 6.2-liter V-8s are available in GMC Sierra 1500. A diesel six-cylinder produces 460 lb-ft. All three engines are 10-speed automatic.

Towing and Payload Capacity

The half-ton GMC pickup can tow up to 13,200 pounds and support a payload up to 2240 pounds, when properly equipped.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

The 2022 Sierra 1500 has several different powertrain combinations, which means its fuel-economy ratings vary.

Most Sierras will have the Denali's 6.2-liter V-8. With all-wheel drive, it gets 16 city/20 highway mpg.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

Sierra's interior is driver-focused. All controls are easy to reach, and trim levels improve material quality.

Due to its abundance of leather-covered surfaces and open-pore wood trim, the Denali Ultimate is where things really become posh.

The front seats are power-adjustable and massage-equipped. Interior cubby storage is perfect for little items.

Infotainment and Connectivity

Most GMC Sierra 1500s include a 13.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on this larger screen. Built-in Google software includes an app store, maps, and a voice assistant.
