Little has changed for 2022 with regard to the smallest Volvo SUV. The XC40 no longer comes with a motorised liftgate, front fog lamps, or rear child locks as standard equipment.

Each XC40 sports a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that may provide 184 or 248 horsepower (called T4 and T5, respectively).

The eight-speed automatic transmission shifts fast and quietly. The engine's loud roar when accelerating is our only issue.

Despite having EPA fuel economy ratings that are competitive with those of other vehicles in its class (22 mpg city and 30 mpg highway).

The front-wheel drive T4 variant gets 23 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the interstate, according to the EPA.

Fun and practical design are mixed with modern Swedish flair within the XC40. Due to the airy, spacious interior, even the base Momentum trim feels very upscale.

In the front as well as the rear seats of the 2022 Volvo XC40, there is a significant amount of room for passengers.

In the centre of the XC40's dashboard, Volvo's Sensus Connect infotainment system is prominent and slightly canted, projecting brightly on a 9.0-inch touchscreen.

There are only a few extra physical buttons, but this screen houses the majority of the cabin's controls.

Unfortunately, nothing about the XC40 sets it apart from its rivals, who all offer coverage that is almost similar.
